WAJEEHA RAHMAN
Accounting - 2021
What brought you to KPU and your program of study?
KPU peeked my interest with its Co-op program and small classroom sizes. I was able to make a connection with my professors and gain their expertise which allowed me to make informed decisions and bring my thoughts into action.
I enjoyed Math and the way accounting flowed made sense to me!
Can you briefly describe your current position and your main day to day responsibilities?
I am senior accountant at KPMG (soon to be manager, God willing)
My day to day includes manging client relationships, preparing financials, and delegating to juniors as well as mentoring CFE writers. I have taken on an active role in the People Network at KPMG (Salam Network) where I enrich the knowledge of KPMG’ers by hosting events and spreading awareness of fellow Muslim colleagues and their experiences in the corporate world.
Which skills, knowledge, or experiences from KPU have been most valuable in your career so far?
1. Connection with professors
2. Opportunity to give back and pay it forward, those are the best ways to make a connection!
3. Take on the challenges and do it scared!
What advice would you give current KPU students who want to build a successful career after graduation?
Enrich your KPU experience by joining student clubs and find like minded individuals who have a strong drive and passion for their career! These are the future leaders seated beside you and you never know what connection they’ll be in the journey as an Accountant!
Make the time to make mistakes and learn from them. Undergraduate is the time to grow and become the best version you can be!
