What brought you to KPU and your program of study?

Before attending KPU, I had already completed a degree, but I knew I wanted to continue developing both my creative and technical abilities. I was looking for a program that would help me deepen my skills and prepare me more directly for the animation industry. KPU stood out to me because of how complete and well-rounded the program felt from an animation perspective while also allowing me to explore and strengthen other areas of interest, such as texturing and sculpting.

Can you briefly describe your current position and your main day to day responsibilities?

I recently accepted an animation internship position at Sony Pictures Imageworks and will begin in July. Since I have not started yet, my current focus has been preparing for the transition into a professional studio environment. I have been reviewing my work, strengthening my animation skills, and getting familiar with production workflows and collaboration practices so I can contribute and learn as much as possible during the internship.

Which skills, knowledge, or experiences from KPU have been most valuable in your career so far?

One of the most valuable things I gained from KPU was learning how to balance creativity with structure. Beyond technical skills in animation, I developed communication, time management, receiving critique, and collaborating with others under deadlines. Working on projects and building a demo reel helped me present my work professionally and adapt to industry expectations.

What advice would you give current KPU students who want to build a successful career after graduation?

Take opportunities even when you do not feel completely ready. Build relationships with classmates and instructors, ask questions, seek feedback, and keep creating outside of assignments when possible. Your portfolio, consistency, and willingness to learn often matter more than having everything figured out from the start. Progress can feel gradual until one day you realize all those small projects and experiences have built the bridge to where you wanted to go.
