Employment and Community Studies - 2024

What brought you to KPU and your program of study?

What brought me to KPU and the Employment Community Studies Program of study is to practice job interviews, learn brand new skills of getting and finding a paid job, socializing and meeting new teachers/Instructors/friends.

Can you briefly describe your current position and your main day to day responsibilities?

I am still searching and applying for jobs right now. My main day to day responsibilities during that class were being on time each day, participating and engaging with the online calls through Microsoft Teams, getting ready to be prepared for my work experience interview and lastly to be ready & prepared for my shifts each day for my work experience. I did my work experience at Winners at the Metropolis at Metrotown Mall in Burnaby. In my personal life my main day to day responsibilities is just doing my own laundry, cleaning after myself and lastly just enjoying my life.

Which skills, knowledge, or experiences from KPU have been most valuable in your career so far?

Job interviews skills, resume & cover letters skills both have been the most valuable so far. My most favourite classes & teachers all throughout the Employment Community Studies Program at KPU are Nicole for Employability Skills, Diane Van der Gucht for Work Experience & Satnam for Social Justice on Microsoft Teams.

What advice would you give current KPU students who want to build a successful career after graduation?

Just keep going & doing what you are doing & you can be successful & have a successful career after graduation.
