What brought you to KPU and your program of study?

I chose KPU because of its strong hands-on approach to learning and its welcoming, diverse community. I was passionate about technology and wanted a program that would provide practical skills while preparing me for real-world challenges. KPU gave me the opportunity to grow both technically and as a leader, inspiring me to found the KPU IT Club and become actively involved in supporting fellow students. The experiences, connections, and opportunities I gained at KPU played a significant role in shaping my career and commitment to making a positive impact in the community.

Can you briefly describe your current position and your main day to day responsibilities?

I currently work as a Business Analyst with the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA), where I coordinate technology refresh initiatives across healthcare facilities. My day-to-day responsibilities include engaging with clinical and operational teams, planning and scheduling hardware deployments, managing stakeholder communications, tracking project progress, and ensuring the successful replacement of technology equipment with minimal disruption to patient care. The role requires strong project coordination, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills to support the delivery of reliable healthcare technology services.

Which skills, knowledge, or experiences from KPU have been most valuable in your career so far?

KPU helped me develop a strong foundation in technology, problem-solving, and communication. Beyond technical knowledge, the collaborative learning environment taught me how to work effectively with diverse teams and manage real-world projects. Founding and leading the KPU IT Club strengthened my leadership, project management, and community-building skills, while serving as a peer mentor allowed me to support fellow students in their academic and professional development. These experiences helped me build confidence in guiding others, collaborating with diverse groups, and creating positive impact—skills that have been invaluable throughout my career in healthcare technology.

What advice would you give current KPU students who want to build a successful career after graduation?

My biggest advice to current KPU students is to focus on building both technical skills and real-world experience early on. Take advantage of every opportunity to work on projects, join clubs, and collaborate with peers, because these experiences often matter just as much as classroom learning. Getting involved in leadership or peer mentorship can also help you develop communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills that are highly valued by employers.
I would also encourage students to stay curious and keep learning beyond their coursework, whether through certifications, volunteering, or internships. Most importantly, don’t hesitate to step outside your comfort zone—some of the most valuable growth comes from experiences you didn’t expect when you first started.
